Swim Lessons Round 2

Alexis passed from Tiny Tots to Beginner 1!! I'm not sure she liked swim lessons as much in Beginner 1. The teachers encouraged her to try things by herself and they liked her to keep her face in the water as much as possible- only coming up to breathe. This was much more of a work-out for her!

Here are a bunch of videos from lessons...

She can touch! On Friday, Alexis could not touch the bottom and have her mouth out of the water at the same time, and she had to wait on the steps for her turn. When we came back after the weekend, she could touch! Either she had a major growth spurt or the pool lost some water.Alexis had to miss the last 2 days of swim lessons because Mommy and Daddy went on vacation to Maui! (this all happened at the beginning/middle of July- we're playing catch up with blog)

Swim Lessons Round 1

Alexis did 2 sessions of swim lessons so far this summer. It was amazing how much she improved since last summer (even though we didn't go swimming much over the winter).

Alexis started in Tiny Tots- the same class she left off in last year. She was the star of the class (not to brag or anything). She tried everything the teachers asked her to do and even tried doing some things by herself- like back float and "big arms."

Sammi seemed jealous that she wasn't in the water too and got very bored by the end. At the pool we go to, you have to be 2 1/2 before starting swim lessons. Next year! "Monkey crawling" to the deep end. Alexis' favorite part of swimming is jumping in, especially off of the diving board.

Auburn Kids Day

On the last Friday of June, Auburn had a Kids Day at the park where we go to run in the fun sprinklers. It was huge! They had face painting, inflatable bouncy toys, different city trucks/construction equipment to climb in, crafts and more.

Here's Alexis getting her face painted-Alexis & Siah showing off their cheeks. Alexis chose an ice cream cone. She sure loves sweets!
Kaitlynn & Sammi got matching suns on their cheeks-
Playing in the huge scoop of a bulldozer-
Driving-
Taking a turn on the John Deere-
The little girls were too small for the big trucks. They seemed happy with their snacks in the stroller.
Unfortunately, the moms were unprepared for how huge this event was. We weren't able to stay very long. Next year we'll be sure to bring lunch and plenty of drinks. I didn't even bring a stroller- big mistake, we had to park blocks away.

Happy Father's Day!

On Father's Day, we went over to Papa Bob's to celebrate with him. We had a really yummy brunch, thanks to Uncle Jeff. It was sad, though...Daddy was still working in Leavenworth and didn't get to Papa's until later in the afternoon. Daddy was so tired, he took a nap on Papa's couch for a while.

We love you Daddy! Thanks for all of the hard work you do!
Since Daddy was so tired, we had to postpone Father's Day with Papa Scott. Hopefully next year Daddy will be able to enjoy his special day more.

Go Mariners!!!

Daddy got tickets for the Mariners game but ended up having to work out of town that weekend. Mommy didn't want the tickets to go to waste, so the 3 of us girls loaded up and went to watch the Mariners play. The second we got there, the girls wanted to get out the candy they brought to the game. Sammi wasn't too interested in the game. She read her books instead. She was pretty stressed out when it started to rain and her Cinderella book got all wet. They closed the roof at Safeco field and then all was good.
Alexis was really interested in the game. She watched the guys and had a lot of questions about what they were doing and why. She started complaining that she was getting really tired in the third inning (it was after bedtime by this point) so we took off in the fourth. We parked pretty far away (Safeco looked so close when we parked but we found out on the walk to the park that it really wasn't) and Alexis needed to walk back. We couldn't risk her falling asleep in her seat. Our seats were on the 3rd level and Alexis took a spill on the stairs on our way out. That was the only bad thing that happened. Hopefully we can go again this season- maybe a day game next time.

Jen C graduates!

After 2 long years, Jen is finally done with school. She graduated from the UW with a Masters in Social Work. Mommy went to the graduation.
Later that day, we went to a party for her, celebrating her accomplishment. There were a lot of chips and candies...the girls were in heaven!
Alexis & Sammi helped Jen open her presents-
Checking out Jen's new book-

Wow it's been a long time!

I see it's almost been a month since we put new pictures on here! Wow, we've been doing a lot this summer vacation. We take advantage of the sun and go swimming every chance we get. We went to the Shoemaker's house to watch the first US game of the World Cup. After, we found this tub to "swim" in.
When we're not swimming, we love bouncing on our trampoline. Sammi doesn't like to bounce when Alexis is bouncing (it's too hard for her), so we've had a lot of work on taking turns this summer.
