Sammi's first hair cut

Today Mommy gave Sammi her first haircut. Not as successful as Alexis' cut, but at least Sam doesn't have her wispy baby hair in her face anymore.

Sadly, since Mommy did the trim, there are no pictures during Sammi's first haircut. We did save some of the hair, though.

Happy Birthday Uncle Michael!

Uncle Michael's birthday was the day before Valentine's Day but we had a party for him this weekend at our house. Grandma Jeannette and the rest of the family came over to celebrate and play games. Happy Birthday!

A great day for a bike ride

We have been having great weather (well except for today- it rained) and Alexis has been getting to ride her bike outside a bunch. Last Monday, we took advantage of the sun & the holiday and went to over to Anissa's to ride bikes in the cul-de-sac. Sammi hasn't figured out how to peddle the trike yet but sure likes to be pushed around on it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!!! We just hung out at home, doing normal stuff today....played outside a bit, colored some pictures, rode bikes. Mommy painted the girl's toes red for Valentine's Day and helped the girls make cards for Daddy. Daddy made a great dinner. We had Alexis' favorite, crab. Hope everyone had a great day!

KidsQuest Museum

This morning, the girls went to the KidsQuest museum in Factoria. It was a lot of fun! A little overwhelming for Mommy at times, especially when the girls headed in opposite directions, wanting to check out different things.

Fitting blocks into the square opening-
Playing with the food. Almost every piece of plastic food made it in Sammi's mouth- yuck. We need to work on pretending!
Drumming on pots, pans & hub caps. Why don't they let us do this at home?!?!
Always a favorite of Alexis & Sammi's- splashing in water!
Mommy couldn't resist taking a picture of this...this is the first time we've ever tried out one of the baby chairs attached to the back of the potty door. It was funny! Sammi might have been too big- we couldn't get the straps big enough to fit over her shoulders and still buckle. At one point the door swung open and Sammi swung with it- he he.

Dress Up

Alexis LOVES to dress up. There is rarely a day that goes by that she doesn't wear her pink Barbie dress. Tonight, she was really nice and let Sammi wear the Barbie dress and she wore her Ariel costume. Action shot-

Giddy Up!

After Siah's party, we went to hang out with Papa Scott for a while. They got a new horse since the last time we were there. Sampson is little- just the right size for Alexis & Sammi to ride on their own!
Sammi checking out the goats-

Happy Birthday, Siah!

On Saturday, we went to our friend Siah's birthday party. It was so fun! There was a giant play toy to climb in- kind of like what you'd find at McDonald's but way bigger.

Siah & Alexis getting ready to go down the bumpy slide-

Even Sammi got to play. She has been quite a dare-devil at home, climbing up onto the back of the couches (she's fallen off once) and then jumping onto the cushions. This was the perfect place for her- she could climb way up high without getting in trouble or getting hurt. Well, she did get hurt once when a big kid plowed her down but she bounced back. Daddy had fun "helping" her climb in the toy.
The party lady made balloons for all of the kids. Alexis asked for a sword. She's usually so girly, we thought for sure she'd want a butterfly but when it got to her turn she asked for a sword. I guess she wanted in on the sword fight all the boys were having.

Our Dancing Queen

Alexis loves the movie "Mamma Mia!" She saw the movie and started singing the songs. We got the soundtrack from the library and now she sings and puts on shows for us. Her favorite is "Dancing Queen." Here is a show she put on for us last night-

Happy Birthday, Pete!

Yesterday was Pete's actual birthday, so she came over to our house and then we took her out to lunch and to the Washington State history museum. Mommy and Pete liked the museum but the girls found it a little boring. Mommy forgot to bring her camera (again) so here are some shots from her cell phone. They're kind of blurry because neither Alexis nor Sammi likes to sit still.

Driving a covered wagon-
Michelle, we know how much you love Sasquatch! A whole exhibit was dedicated to him/her/it- whatever.
Finally something the girls really, really liked. A model train track. I think we could have stayed there all day watching the trains go by-

Before we went out for Pete's birthday, Sammi had her 18 month check up. Yes, we were at the doctor's office Wednesday night getting her elbow fixed and then we were back Thursday morning for her check-up. She is nearing 25 pounds (24.9 pounds- it usually is in pounds & ounces but yesterday it was not). Her growth continues to be on track and she is developmentally normally. She is saying (or at least attempting) something new everyday. Alexis is so proud of her little sister when she talks!

Wowie, zowie, oh what an owie

The Jolley girl's have suffered from a few owies in the past but on Wednesday, Sammi got an owie so big it required immediate medical attention- a first for us. Poor girl! This is what happened (some details supplied by Alexis- Mommy was throwing something away when this all went down):
  • At around 4pm, Mommy left her bedroom with Sammi on the ground and Alexis on the bed
  • Mommy heard Alexis say "Sammi get up here"
  • Mommy heard Sammi crying
  • When Mommy went back into the room Sammi would not move her left arm and her left hand/wrist was bright red
  • Alexis told Mommy she was pulling Sammi up onto the bed and then Sammi started to cry
  • Well, after 20 minutes of crying and still no left arm movement, Mommy called the doctor
  • The doctor's office said they could see us at 5pm
  • By the time we saw the doctor, Sammi was crying less but still not moving her arm
  • The doctor manipulated her left forearm, holding her wrist and elbow and popped her bones back into place
  • Sammi had "nursemaid's elbow," which meant one of the bones in her forearm had popped out of place when Alexis tugged on her arm (which is why they say not to lift babies or twirl them by their hands)
  • The doctor had us test her arm by offering Sammi a sticker to her left side- she was fixed! She reached right out and grabbed it- yay!
Anyway, we need to be careful of her arm for he next month or so. The ligaments have been stretched and this could easily happen again. Besides that, she is back to normal!

Ride anyone?

The other day we learned this new trick-

Alexis can take Sammi for a ride on the trike. "Go, go, go!"

Party Time

Last weekend we went to 2 birthday parties, celebrating 4 birthdays. According to Alexis, it was "party time!" On Friday night, we had a small party for Jen Cruze. On Sunday, we had another party. This time we celebrated Great-uncle Ken, Great-uncle Harry, and Great-grandma "Pete's" birthdays. Happy Birthday everybody!!!
